Those of you that know us personally will be aware that we've been banging on about local arts cafe Deptford Properly for a while now, and justly so, it's wonderful! To those that don't
know us, read above and take note, we think that after one visit you'll be hooked. You can read what BLD scribe Stuart Hicks thought of the place
here...
Anyways, things are afoot at the D.P.
Utrophia, the art mob behind the running of the cafe are soon to launch upon us all
The Egg Festival, a celebration of the arts, creation and ovuum fun! Taking in live music, The Tanners Hill Egg and Spoon Race, big eggs, maypoles, marching bands, lemonade, discos, egg painting and much more the fest looks set to bring plenty of smiles and the odd
cackle!
The full skinny will appear on the Utrophia site soon, so mark Easter weekend (21st-23rd March) off in your diary.
Back to the point of this project... In joyous celebration of all things egg the guys are looking for as much artwork involving eggs as they can find to adorn the walls of Deptford Properly. The brief reads 'any artwork you feel is related to eggs in any way' and 'the artwork must be made by you'. Two simple rules then. If this sounds like your cup of tea then artwork can be taken to the cafe on market days (Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays) from 10-7, or you can drop 'em a line to make other arrangements. Go get yo'self involved!
Wew! Narrowly missed a million yolk based cliches in writing this! Pat on the back!
Seriously though, if you get a chance you should take yourself along to the cafe and take in its flavours. A great and inexpensive menu, exciting arts and crafts on display, jolly nice people and friendly ambience await! In these days of fetishised everything we're constantly bombarded with messages about the importance of a healthy diet. The real message is simple; eat Properly.
